Several years ago, I saw a painting by Zdzisław Beksiński and I was amazed. For the first time I felt as though I could see the subject move on the canvas. That moment reignited my desire to paint and I delved into the world of surrealism. Since then, I’ve been steadily practicing my technique in oils. I am at the point of getting enough confidence to show my works to the world, but there is always room for improvement.
The best inspiration comes from music and stories. Every flash of an idea is scribbled down into sketchpads, where I will constantly re-visit until I feel the time is right to create it in ernest. No piece is ever set in stone and will quite often change as I paint, letting the piece evolve over time.
Each piece is a journey. I may never feel they’re perfect, but my greatest hope is that they move others in a meaningful, emotional way.
